Transcan XL

Transcan XLTranScan has the answer to your monitoring requirements with the TranScan XL, the latest generation of quality recording equipment for the refrigerated transport industry which includes hands free offloading and analysis of recorded data via wireless transmission direct to your remote office PC. TranScan XL supports up to 4 separate temperature inputs from precision NTC thermistor sensors. Four temperature inputs via precision thermistor sensors. Each input is characterised for operation between -45C and + 50C. Sensors are available with cable lengths up to 18 metres and are fully interchangeable. To comply with the requirements of the UK Food Hygiene Amendment Regulations each thermistor sensors has a damped thermal response (T90 of approximately 8 minutes). Optional product probe temperature sensors are available in two formats. An 'Insertion Probe' which is rounded with a semi-pointed end, normally used for direct insertion into products such as meat carcasses, and a 'Between Pack Probe' which is flattened to allow introduction between boxes or cartons of food. Product probes have a faster response time than air temperature sensors (T90 of approximately 1 minutes) and are advantageous for operators of multidrop delivery vehicles where air temperature sensing alone may not provide a meaningful indication of product temperature Three event (on/off) inputs i.e. door, defrost, side door. TranScan XL supports up to three separate digital or on/off inputs from volt free contacts. These inputs are monitored and recorded to provide additional information concerning the operation of the refrigeration system. Each of these inputs is dedicated in operation for door, defrost and side door operation as indicated on the instrument mimic display. However it is possible to use, say, the defrost input for monitoring fridge operation (on/off) or any other appropriate digital signal. The interface between the event to be monitored and the TranScan recorder is via a relay or supplied solid state switch or any other appropriate device which provides a volt free contact. Security protected clock with automatic winter/summer adjustment. Operation of the TranScan XL is enhanced by utilising a customised LCD graphic module incorporated into the display. This clearly shows each of the 4 temperature probes plus rear door, side door and defrost symbols as part of a vehicle mimic which is simplicity itself to understand. The display also incorporates time and date plus large scale digital indication of temperature. Under normal circumstances the display is set to scroll each of the enabled temperature probe symbols in turn indicating the respective temperature as it scrolls. The door and defrost symbols operate in real time on the mimic to provide a clear and unambiguous indication of the state of each of these monitored events. Instant review of recorded data - record by record. When immediate hardcopy of recorded data is not required the TranScan XL permits instant access to historical information record by record. With other vehicle recording equipment the access to specific historical data can be a very laborious and complex process. TranScan XL revolutionises this important facility by permitting selection of date, time and temperature channel by scrolling backwards and forwards through each of these functions in turn. The customised display and keypad allow access to specific data in normally less than 20 seconds. Once the selected historical data is displayed it is then possible to scroll backwards and forwards in time, record by record. This feature can be used in conjunction with the vehicle mimic display to review recorded temperature and event information simply and quickly as required. Large Data Safe data memory. Over 12 months storage for standard configuration. All TranScan recorders include an on-board data memory of 512K standard. The TranScan data memory scrolls when full with the newest data overwriting the oldest. Simple data offload either manually via Data Collection Unit or hands free via wireless transmission to office PC. Data recorded by TranScan XL recorders may be offloaded for archiving on a standard office PC or similar. We provide a hand held Data Collection Unit (DCU) for this purpose. Alternatively a portable compatible computer running the appropriate supplied software may be connected directly to the TranScan XL. We supply a Windows based software package called TSxpress which allows data recordings to be stored on the PC and subsequently analysed as required. However, for the ultimate in temperature data management the TranScan XL can be equipped with an integral 433 MHZ radio transceiver module which will provide hands free off loading and analysis of recorded data via wireless transmission direct to a remote office PC. The transceiver has an operational range (subject to site conditions) of around 200m. The PC is linked to an Automatic Data Gathering System (ADG) which is a black box unit positioned in the transport yard. The ADG automatically collects and stores recorded data from each XL recorder when the vehicle returns to base, regardless of the state of the PC to which it is connected. When the PC is powered on the data in the ADG is then automatically transferred to the PC without any user interaction whatsoever. RS 232 port for connection to on-board computer system for vehicle tracking and location applications. The application of current microprocessor technology has meant that on-board vehicle computer systems are now increasingly common place items. These systems derive signals concerning the performance and location of the vehicle from various sensors which are either already part of the vehicle or are added as part of on-board system installation. We have anticipated this requirement for refrigerated vehicles by including an RS 232 port for connection to on-board computer systems of this kind via a field wireable plug and socket connector. A defined protocol exists for this means of communication which allows users of refrigerated transport to transmit precise details of the vehicle operation either in real time or historically, depending upon the type of on-board system, including the performance of the refrigeration system. Compact, weatherproof, fully automatic recorder. With a footprint of only 122mm x 142mm (w x h) and depth of 64mm the TranScan XL is an extremely compact device. Housed in a custom designed moulded case the XL incorporates a unique design cable connection chamber which includes open access cable entry channels to avoid the need for cable glands. A weatherproof neoprene gasket seal between the connection chamber and instrument provides IP65 integrity whilst the instrument itself is a fully sealed unit meeting the requirements of IP67. TranScan XL recorders incorporate a fully automatic recording process to ensure that data is accumulated regardless of external events such as operation of the fridge system. This completely avoids the need for any driver action to start or stop the recording process thereby guaranteeing absolute security of operation. TranScan XL recorders have been type tested and approved against the new EN 12830 norm for vehicle temperature recording systems and are certified as a Class 1 device. This is the highest classification of performance that can be awarded. Certification of refrigerated vehicle temperature recorders is essential to ensure compliance with the requirements of Directives 92/1/EEC, which is enacted in the UK via the Quick Frozen Foodstuffs (Amendment) Regulations, and 93/43/EEC Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), which via the Food Safety Act and Food Hygiene (Amendment) Regulations imposes all operators with the task of being able to demonstrate Due Diligence. Distributors of chilled and frozen foods are required to maintain the foods that they handle at specific temperatures. If there is a temperature related problem it is most unlikely that Due Diligence will be proved unless adequate records which ensure compliance with the temperature requirements have been maintained. |
